The tilt tray sorter consists of several essential components, including tray carriers, conveying devices, tilting mechanisms, identification systems, control systems, and track frames, all functioning through horizontal continuous conveying. Items are carried on trays mounted on motorized carts. When these carts reach their designated sorting points, the tilting mechanism engages, causing the items to slide out of the trays for sorting.

Thanks to its design, the tilt tray sorter can accommodate a broad spectrum of items, from parcels and boxes to envelopes and even cylindrical or spherical items that are difficult to sort using conventional machines.
